Join us for an inspiring, fun and fantastic afternoon! Students in grades K-12 can join us for a FREE 30-minute Academy class, followed by a brief presentation and Q & A session.
Learn more about First Stage’s Summer Academy, and how students can spend this summer in a positive environment while learning Acting, Musical Theater, Improvisation, and much more!
Classes will be grouped according to grade level: K-2, 3-4, 5-8 and 9-12.

AS YOU LIKE IT
First Stage’s award-winning Young Company, Shakespeare’s delightful romantic comedy AS YOU LIKE IT arrives in March at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center as a needed respite from the harsh Wisconsin winter. Directed by Milwaukee theater professional James Fletcher, AS YOU LIKE IT tells the story of Rosalind as she is banished from her uncle Duke Frederick’s court. She must then flee into the Forest of Arden with her cousin Celia and the fool Touchstone. There they encounter clowns, noblemen and even Rosalind’s new love Orlando – who needs to learn a few things before he will deserve her. AS YOU LIKE IT is filled with music, love, laughter and reminders of what is most important in this world. Sponsored by United Performing Arts Fund.

WAVE Presents – I LOVE
I LOVE (Impacted Lives Overcoming Violence Effort) that AART is collaborating with WAVE along with a few other agencies including Rid Racism. This will be a space where folks who have been impacted by gun violence will share their stories. Sharing experiences can have a vital role in preventing gun violence. Nearly everyone has been affected by gun violence in some way. JRart seeks to show the faces of the debate around this issue in his latest art piece, in collaboration with TIME. Vu Le (“voo lay”) is a writer, speaker, vegan, Pisces, and the Executive Director of Rainier Valley Corps, a nonprofit in Seattle that promotes social justice by developing leaders of color, strengthening organizations led by communities of color, and fostering collaboration between diverse communities. Known for his no-BS approach, irreverent sense of humor, and love of unicorns, Vu has been featured in dozens, if not hundreds, of his own blog posts at NonprofitAF.com, formerly nonprofitwithballs.com.
